People are Dying

Of course, the only certainties in life are Death and Taxes.
Unfortunately, we are seeing a lot of these are two things these days.

As I am sure, health insurance issues have touched many of you in some way or another.
Be it from unaffordability, a sick family member or friend, or just the hassle of trying to obtain it, health insurance companies have been a royal pain in the butt.

People in Iowa have "had it" too. This is a great news story.

The news story talks about how health insurance companies need to make themselves more accessible and affordable or just do away with them and turn to a Universal health care system.

  1. This is a great article that definitely struck a cord with me. My mother is experiencing a lot of health problems (which is actually why I moved back to the valley). Unfortunately, she lost her job (and health insurance) when her health went south. The problem is, with no health insurance, it has been difficult to get a diagnosis on what is causing her poor health. We are still working to pay off a series of tests that was run over a year ago (which found nothing). When you don't have health insurance, it is difficult to afford doctors appointments and diagnostic tests. When you don't know what is causing the illness, it is very difficult to treat it. When the illness is untreated, it is difficult to regain your health and return to work...thereby regaining health insurance. It is a very difficult and frustrating circle. I don't pretend to know what the answer is, but I know there needs to be one.

  2. Universal health care is the only workable solution in the long run. Problem is that the health insurance industry is such a strong lobby [like the NRA] that they'll never get a universal plan through Congress without their cooperation. But I am glad to see people exposing them for what they are. The biggest mistake we as a society made is allowing health care to be rationed for profit-making purposes. The rest of the developed world is way ahead of us on this issue.

This is one issue on which Hillary Clinton had a better plan than Obama, IMO.
